The Fighter-Bomber is a multi-purpose jet engine combat aircraft. It appeared in MechAssault.
Description[]
The Fighter-Bomber's name is unknown. It was created specifically for MechAssault and its design does not match any other known aircraft in the BattleTech main canon.
The Fighter-Bomber is a dual-engine delta wing jet. Though extremely atypical of jet aircraft, the Fighter-Bomber's landing gear appear to be fixed, as the aircraft is observed to have its landing gear down even when airborne.
Weapons[]
The Fighter-Bomber is never seen engaging in direct combat outside of bombing runs and its primary armaments are unknown. Though observed to have two cannons or machine guns mounted under its wings, it is never seen using these armaments. The Fighter-Bomber has been observed to be able to carry at least four non-tracking high-explosive bombs which are used to carpet bomb the target area.
Trivia[]
- The Fighter-Bomber never actually drops any bomb during its appearances, as it functionally has no weapons programmed into it.
- The engagement in which three Fighter-Bombers conduct a bombing run against the player during Not On My Watch is staged to appear as though the aircraft are dropping bombs when in reality the explosions that appear are mortar shells, the same type used on the Mortar Turret, generated independently from the aircraft and placed in a preset pattern.
