MechAssault 3, also referred to as MechAssault III, is a cancelled 'Mech game from Day 1 Studios, the developers of the MechAssault series.

Description[]

Though not much is known about MechAssault 3, there is documented history. Recently a leak was discovered, a small section of a book used to pitch the concept to investors was found by accident. If the dates are to be believed this leak floated around on the internet for quite some time but remained undiscovered for one simple reason: the leaker listed the page as "MechAssault III" and not "MechAssault 3" implying that the title may have switched to roman numerals. This kept the leak's existence hidden for many years as fans simply didn't know to search for "III" and not "3"

History[]

Around 2005-2006 (speculation) Day 1 Studios pitched the idea to investors and began producing assets, seemingly convinced they would be able to see the game though. Rumors say that MechAssault 3 was cancelled around the time Day 1 Studios was contracted to work on the game "Fracture" though that is also unconfirmed. It appears the game was slated to release as a launch title for the Xbox 360.

What We Do Know[]

MechAssault 3 was to be set quite some time after MechAssault 2 with a focus on Clan Wolf, Jade Falcon and Ghost Bear. The designs for clan infantry and 'Mechs played heavily into the animal aesthetic that the clans were named after and it was visually clear which 'Mechs and armor belonged to which clans. Clan Wolf appears to be the most familiar as the designs look very similar to the MechWarrior as we see him in MechAssault 2. The only confirmed 'Mech we have right now is the Fire Falcon, a light 'Mech designed in the concept to resemble the Jade Falcon aesthetic.
